Provisional List of Conditions for the Charity Race

The 22nd running of the Punchestown Charity Race

Saturday 7th May 2011. Kindly sponsored by Diageo Ireland.

A private sweepstakes of €1,000 each. Payable by the rider at or before time of declaration. Contact James Nolan (086 2349919) for payment information. Proceeds to the Puncestown Kidney Research Fund Ltd.

Horses

For four years old and upwards, which have run at least three times under the Rules of Racing or the I.N.H.S Rules, and one of those runs must have been since the 1st March, 2010. (Point to Point Steeplechases excluded.) Horses must be returned in training.

Distance: About 1 mile and 7 furlongs.
Weights: 12 st
Mares Allowance: 5 lb

Penalties to count from 1st January, 2010: Winner of a race* to carry 3 lb extra for each race won. Maximum penalty 9 lb.

*Including any race under any Rules of Racing or Steeplechasing.

Nominators

Riders: Persons to whom permission to ride in this race has been granted by the Stewards of the Governing Bodies. All jockeys must be Licensed Jockeys with a minimum of an Amateur Licence Category A1 to participate and shall not have ridden more than 5 winners years on the racecourse. this ‘Five Winners Rule’ is subject to Turf Club clarification. It is subject to Stewards of the Governing Bodies approval as to whether a person may be given permission to participate.

Please note that the Organising Committee reserve the right to accept or reject any application.

N.B. The mandatory percentage deductions shall not apply to this race. Any horse, which has won a Private Sweepstakes, shall not on that account incur any penalty or be debarred from claiming any allowance or from taking part in any race. Horses that run in Private Sweepstakes do not lose their eligibility to run in Point-to-Point Steeplechases.

The winning owner will receive a trophy valued at €500.
The trainer of the winner will receive €500, the second €250, and the third €200.
The winning rider will receive a trophy. Each rider will receive a memento of no intrinsic value.
The groom in charge of the winning horse will receive €100 and the groom in charge of the best-turned out horse will receive €100.

  • Not more than 25 runners will be permitted to run in this race.
  • Horses who require to be led to the start will not be permitted to take part.
  • Blinkers, visors, hoods, pacifiers, eye shields or sheepskin cheek strapes are not permitted.
  • In the event of the race being over subscribed the organising committee reserve the right to select the 25 runners and 3 reserves for this race.
  • Entries for horses that are not returned in training at time of entry will not be accepted.
